San Diego is truly beautiful year round. One way to capture the beauty of the great city and truly get an historical and geographical perspective of San Diego’s significance is to take a Flagship Cruise. First of all, the location of the boats is amazing given that they are located right next to the USS Midway and within walking distance of the Maritime Museum and Seaport Village. A great day in San Diego would include both a Flagship Cruise to actually get your family out on a moving boat and then a visit to the USS Midway Museum.
The boats that are operated by Flagship Cruises are clean and truly first class. There was an indoor area on the Harbor Cruise we took with a snack bar as well as an upper deck with tables and chairs to relax in.
The narrator while informative, was casual, and did not make the cruise seem like a stuffy tour led by a docent. We literally counted over 50 unique points of interest shared with us from the tour guide.
While there are one and two hour tours offered, we recommend the two hour tour in order to see both the Coronado Bridge and a real sub station among many other highlights. My children loved seeing the sea lions and having a close up look at so many of our military’s active ships.
